How to write C in cursive

These steps follow the traditional school letters shown above. Other handwriting systems may form C differently, so stay consistent with the style you are learning.

Capital C in cursive

  1. Start just below the top line on the right and curve up over the top.
  2. Sweep left and down in a large open curve to the baseline.
  3. Curve along the baseline and lift slightly at the end without closing the letter.

Lowercase c in cursive

  1. Start just below the midline with a small tick at the top right of the letter.
  2. Curve left and down around to the baseline, keeping the shape open.
  3. Carry the curve up into a short exit stroke that leads into the next letter.

Common mistakes with cursive C

  • Closing the curve at the top so lowercase c turns into an a or an o.
  • Starting the letter too low, which makes it shorter than the letters around it.
  • Flattening the bottom of the curve instead of keeping it round.
